Design & Concept
Set in the heart of Chettikulangara, this 7000 sqft mansion is a refined blend of Kerala’s timeless traditional architecture and modern structural design. Guided by the vision of Ar. Santhosh Varughese, the residence celebrates the warmth of heritage through carved wooden details, sloping tiled roofs, and natural ventilation while integrating functional modern elements like open courtyards, layered lighting, and seamless indoor–outdoor transitions.
Planning & Spatial Flow
Every zone was planned around family comfort and cross-ventilation. The core nalukettu concept anchors the plan, allowing sunlight to play across spaces through the day. The formal living and dining areas merge with a landscaped central courtyard, while private zones maintain intimacy and calm. Architectural massing and proportion were fine-tuned to preserve traditional harmony without compromising on modern usability.
Materials & Detailing
Locally sourced laterite stone, Anjili wood, and Mangalore tiles were combined with high-grade modern finishes for durability and aesthetic contrast. The textures of natural wood and earthy stone harmonize with muted wall tones, creating a residence that feels rooted yet progressive. Custom joinery, handcrafted columns, and structural precision stand as testaments to OLDAC’s craftsmanship philosophy — where every detail echoes passion and perfection.
